BRILLIANT HARRY MEADE INSPIRES SCT APPRENTICES
The world’s number one event rider, Harry Meade, gave an exclusive Masterclass to Stubbing Court Training Ltd (SCT) apprentices and employers on 2 December at Pickering Grange Equestrian, Leicestershire, for the second year running.
East Midlands-based training company SCT - Britain’s leading provider of apprentices to the equestrian industry - gives its apprentices and employers unparalleled access to training with the very best coaches and riders via its legendary Masterclass Series every year; just one of the superb opportunities available via SCT.
Harry, who jumped clear across country in all eight of his CCI5* rides in 2025, is also an inspiring and absorbing coach. He taught a number of groups that ranged widely in experience and ambition, from SCT apprentices just starting on the programme to employers who ride professionally themselves.
SCT Chief Executive Belinda Turner MBE said: “Harry was totally brilliant - so enthusiastic and gifted in seeing within a minute what people needed to do to improve. Some people said it was the best session they had ever had.”
Harry said: “I really enjoyed another day with Stubbing Court Training. It was great to see the big variety in experience of horses and riders; everyone really progressed, enjoyed it and were keen to learn. Thank you for a great day!”
Harry also filmed some training segments for SCT’s Online Learning library, including aspects of feeding, riding and caring for and managing event horses. The Online Learning facility helps apprentices access top-class training and education in a flexible way while they learn in a practical way and earn a wage working for excellent, well-supported employers and gain valuable qualifications.
Those attending the Taster day also learnt about all aspects of apprenticeships from both a former SCT apprentice and a current employer. At a time of year when many young people are assessing their post-16 life options, anyone with an interest in a rewarding and secure career in the equine world should seriously consider an SCT apprenticeship. Young people are supported, trained and inspired to pursue long-term, fulfilling careers within the equine industry.
SCT’s equine apprenticeships offer young people an outstanding chance to achieve the highest standards of horse care and horsemanship by learning from the best practitioners in the equestrian world. Their contacts are unparalleled, and the company offers exceptional levels of support to both apprentices and their employers, giving advice and training in all aspects of employment. Apprentices earn a wage while gaining valuable, respected qualifications and transferrable skills, giving them excellent employability.
